Transnational collaboration project which aims to optimize aircraft structures with composite, reducing lead production time and its associated costs. It is directly related to our collaboration with Airbus in the sizing and calculation of the 360º fuselage full section, designing and building smaller parts.
To study the behavior of structural composite material in fire used in aeronautics, presented to the National Experimental Development Project as part of the subproject Technological Centres. This Project will be developed in cooperation with the CTA (Aeronautics Technologies Centre) and FIDAMC.
Funding: CDTI Centre for industrial and technological development (2008 CENIT programme) and National consortium
The ICARO Project comprises a national consortium formed by 12 companies from the aeronautical industry and several research centres, led by Airbus Spain with a global budget of 34 million euros over 4 years. Its aim is to study new materials and processes (thermoset, thermoplastic, infusion, etc), and the exploration of emerging technologies in composite with the purpose of achieving their industrial application. FIDAMC has agreements with several Spanish companies from the aeronautical industry, such as:

Project TARGET is the result of a national Consortium formed by 14 companies from different sectors, overall from the aerospace industry, and several research centres, led by Airbus Operation to be developed in the coming 4 years. Its aim is to research and develop new smart and environmentally sustainable technologies to generate Composite material structures. The research will focus on materials that already exist and processes that enable the elimination of the use of huge autoclaves, laying the foundations for the knowledge necessary for the development of new machinery and automation process concepts. FIDAMC has reached agreements with several companies from the airspace industry such as: Airbus Operations, EADS CASA, ALESTIS, ACCIONA, MTORRES, IDEC y TECNATOM.

IMS&CPS is a joint research Project, financed by the European Union as part of the 7th framework programme, to be realized within a national consortium formed by 17 collaborators, among them FIDAMC, with an overall budget of 7 million euros. Its aim is to analyze new materials synergies within the manufacturing processes with composite materials. At the same time its aim is to study the impact of CNT´s (Carbon nanotubes) on the properties of composite material.
Funding: EADS CASA (Military Air Systems)
Collaboration contract with EADS CASA which aims to optimize the structural repairs in composite materials with a special orientation to cover operators' needs, thus improving customer satisfaction.
Funding: European Union, 7th framework programme and EADS CASA The Project concerns multifunctional materials and is oriented along two different lines:
The first deals with the impact of electrical conductivity and its influence on dimensioning copper mesh due to the incorporation of nanotubes/nanofibre in composite material. The second is about the influence of the incorporation of elastomers in composite material in order to dampen noise inside the aircraft.
Funding: EADS CASA
FIDAMC will take part in the development of thermoplastic technologies needed in the manufacture of a technological demonstrator, as well as in developing a device which automatically produces thermoplastics and in the study of structural repairs in thermoplastic material, thanks to agreements with EADS CAS (Airbus Military), one of the Project collaborators.

Research and development of a new methodology of laminated impacted tests – ILIA This project has been financed by el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación within the Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica, Desarrollo e Innovación Tecnológica 2008-2011 and the Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) with file number PCT-420000-2009-1 The Project is led by FIDAMC together with IMDEA. Its aim is to develop tools and test impact specifications to deal with usual aeronautical thicknesses (1.5-3 mm), substantially lower than international regulations (4 mm).
